Our mission is to use art to empower people of all ages to courageously seek, imagine and create meaningful lives for themselves and to transform the world around them.
We seek to:
provide a FUN and meaningful art-making experience that everyone can do regardless of their artistic skill level;
share inspiration in the form of artwork, poetry, stories and/or songs and to inspire all participants to continually seek inspiration;
create a space where participants can express their thoughts and feelings, share their experiences and forge connections with fellow participants;
have AH-HA! moments and leave participants inspired to carry their learning into their daily lives;
equip participants with more skills, resources and tools to fill up their toolboxes;
incorporate silliness and laughter as participants are guided to look deeper within and without.
Creative Courage Art is founded by Artist, Illustrator and Teaching Artist, Karen Light. As a Teaching Artist, she has worked with urban and suburban schools and organizations since 1999. Karen has been immersed in the magic of visual art-making since someone first put a crayon in her hand. She received a BFA with a concentration in sculpture from Xavier University where she began to teach young people art through summer camps and volunteer opportunities. Inspired by how art allows her the space to dive into her inner world and find the healing needed along life’s Journey, Karen went to graduate school for Cultural Management at City University London in the hopes of finding a way to share the power of art with others. There she discovered organizations using arts for social change and her true calling was revealed – using art to change the world! You can see more of her artwork at: www.KarenLight.com
